The Blue Knights® International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Inc. is a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement officers who enjoy riding motorcycles. In the Spring of 1974, several law enforcement officers from the Bangor, Maine, USA area met and formed a small, local motorcycle club. The Blue Knights® LEMC have approximately 650 chapters, 18,800+ members in 11 Conferences within 29 countries.
All law enforcement officers, whether full-time (32 hours a week minimum) or part-time, are eligible to join. When you work you must have the power of arrest and receive some type of compensation from the Governmental Law Enforcement Agency you work for. Compensation can include, but is not limited to, being covered by workman's compensation, while on duty, uniform allowance etc. Retired or disabled Law Enforcement Officers who are receiving or who will be receiving compensation for their employment are also eligible. All members must either own a motorcycle or have plans to own one within 6 months of joining. All members must be properly licensed to operate a motorcycle.
The Blue Knights are very active with fund-raising projects such as Heart Fund, Cystic Fibrosis, Ronald McDonald House, Children's Wards in Hospitals, Nursing Homes. MIRA dogs the blinds. Abused Women and Children, Handicapped Children's Camps, Concerns of Police Survivors, Special Olympics, Cerebral Palsy and many other Charities too numerous to mention. The Blue Knights join law enforcement personnel around the world in a fraternal organization, which includes federal, state, provincial, county, and local police; all of whom enjoy recreational motorcycling. The Club is dedicated to improving the motor cycling image, promote safety and promote motorcycling as a family recreation, and just having fun. Spouses and children often accompany our members to the various rides and functions.
